'09 Step Campaign
Step Up: Rise and be used like a thrown rock.
Step In: Engage your culture…be a part of this world.
Step Out: Do hard Things…be the hands and feet of Jesus
campaign (noun): a series of coordinated activities designed to achieve a goal, a number of operations aimed at achieving a single objective
There is no ripple until a rock is thrown. A ripple effect occurs when an object is thrown into a surface, thus causes a movement (Jacob Kounin coined the term ripple effect). We as Christians are chosen by God to spread His gospel, His story. When a person stands high and asks God, “use me,” God will use that person much like a thrown rock. He will hit His mark, and by your willingness, cause a radical movement in this culture. Let’s step up and step out and ask God to use us like a thrown rock!
5 principles for this campaign:
"I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness, I will take hold of your hand.? I will keep you and will make you? to be a covenant for the people (make a promise and keep it)? and a light for the Gentiles, (rewrite someone else's story) to open eyes that are blind, (give hope to hopeless)? to free captives from prison (drop a bad habit)? and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. (un-lock a closed door)
~Isaiah 42:6-7
- ~make a promise and keep it
In today’s culture, it’s hard to trust someone because everyone breaks promises. Keep a promise (ex: A person keeps a promise of praying for someone everyday at 12 pm).
- ~ rewrite
By accident or fate, people’s stories end abruptly with no “good” ending. God wants everyone’s story to end “happy.” (ex: A teen sits at a table by himself. He doesn’t feel loved or liked. You befriend him, and change his story).
- ~ give hope to the hopeless
Hope is given when nothing else can satisfy. We have a hope in Jesus that will never fade, perish, or spoil. Give that hope. (ex: A person sharing Jesus with someone, giving them the everlasting hope).
- ~ drop a habit
Habits sometimes holds us back. We need to drop them and watch it shatter. By doing so, we won’t be held back. (ex: A teen gives up gossiping or compulsive lying. Now they can move forward).
- ~ un-lock
Doors close all the time. God wants us to open those who seem locked. ex: A person is handicapped by finances. They can’t move forward in their life because of a lingering problem that hasthem locked out of moving forward. (ex: Teens join together with raising finances to build a well for a village who doesn’t haveclean drinking water. Good health is just around the corner, we just have to un-lock the door).
